Provenance: bought on 27 Oct. 1967 from Janina Fulbiszewska from Bukowno n. Olkusz, according to whom it was as made by Charles Nicolaus Sawicki; the violin had been in Ms Fulbiszewska’s possession since 1958

Description: A. Stradivari’s big model; one-piece spruce belly, two-piece flame maple back; high quality tonewood; high quality varnish in red-brown shades; for solo and chamber performance; probably a German [?] copy of Stradivari’s instrument; maintained by E. Gosiewski

Inscriptions: printed label reading: Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonensis / [a cross with the monogram AS in a double circle is featured below] / (N. Sawitzky Wien) [Sawicki never signed himself “Sawitzki”]

Measurements: body length 362 mm, upper bout 172 mm, middle bout 115 mm, lower bout 211 mm
